Humana Insurance works hard to help their members lead healthy, active and rewarding lives by giving incredible coverage at competitive rates. Humana has expanded their role in the insurance industry and communities they serve, and the provider has made great strides in creating healthcare systems that work for everyone.
Aeroflow Breastpumps has partnered with Humana and Humana Beginnings (part of the Clinical Maternity Department) to provide patients with breastfeeding equipment, education and supplies (such as breast pumps and accessories!).
Humana insurance guidelines do not specify which brand is covered, just the type of breast pump. Typically, electric, personal-use pumps will be a covered benefit, and the patient is free to choose from there. Insurance companies cover these items by code, and all brands of electric personal use pumps are billed with the same code.
However, some pumps may come with accessories that are not billable and therefore not covered by insurance — in this case, there may be an upgrade or out of pocket fee. Humana also typically asks distributors to wait until a patient has reached 30 weeks gestation before receiving the breast pump.
We all know that breast is best, and with how busy our schedules have become, a lot of mothers are looking to supplement with pumping and bottle feeding. This is a great way to ensure baby is still getting nature’s best nutrition while allowing mom to go back to work or school, or for family and loved ones to join in the bonding experience of feeding via bottle. This is also a great way to increase milk production for mom (by power pumping, which closely mimics cluster feeding — this is when baby nurses frequently and in short bursts to naturally stimulate mommy’s milk production).
Per the Affordable Care Act, insurance companies should cover breastfeeding supplies and equipment at little to no cost to patients as a preventative benefit, which is great news for expectant families as breast pumps can be extremely expensive! Find out if your policy is compliant by completing the following simple, three-step qualify through insurance form. Your dedicated Breastpump Specialist will contact your insurance company, verify your coverage and network status, and contact you within 1-2 business days with your options.
If your policy is not compliant, no problem! Aeroflow Breastpumps strives to provide the best products at the lowest prices to patients.
