What is a Health Savings Account (HSA)?
Health Savings Accounts were created in 2003 so that individuals with high-deductible health plans (HDHP) can save money tax-free to be used for medical expenses.

What is a Flexible Spending Account (FSA)?
A Flexible Spending Account allows individuals to set aside a portion of their earnings to pay for qualified medical expenses. FSAs are normally set up through a "Cafeteria Plan," which is an employee benefit plan that allows employees to select different types of benefits.
- Most FSA plans will issue a debit card to allow you to make purchases easier and track your expenditures.
How Can I Check my FSA/HSA Balance?
You can either visit your account portal or call your insurance provider to receive information about your account balance.
Will Any Unused FSA/HSA Funds Roll Over to the Next Year?
HSA funds will automatically roll over and accumulate year to year if not spent.
FSA funds will not always carry over. Some plans permit up to $500 to be carried over. If you are unsure if your plan allows rollovers, contact your insurance provider to confirm.
