At Aeroflow Breastpumps, our specialists get many questions regarding what can be done with your breast pump when you think it has reached the end of its road and you are ready to part ways. While we recommend holding on to it just in case (hey, whether we admit or not, not everyone’s little miracles were always planned!), another option is Medela’s Recycling Program. Instead of trashing your breast pump, why not join Medela in their vow to help the environment?
By donating your breast pump to their recycling program, which is a part of U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Waste Wise program, you are doing your part in helping take care of our planet. They will take any Medela electric breast pump (sorry, no manual breast pumps please!), and will even help you ship it for free by creating the shipping label. Medela asks that you use your local recycling program to dispose of the bags, tubing, breast shields, and connector parts, as the Medela Recycling Program will only take your actual motor and power cord.
You may be wondering if they take these breast pumps and reuse them for manufacturing purpose, the answer is no. Medela uses a third party recycling center to help appropriately dispose of all of the parts. For more questions about Medela’s Recycling Program, they have provided frequently asked Q&A’s.
If you are preparing to bring a little one into the world, then maybe you might be in the market to get your own breast pump. Through Aeroflow Breastpumps, you could easily be on your way to getting your own Medela breast pump. Just fill out our Qualify Through Insurance form and leave the rest to our dedicated team of Breastpump Specialists.
